Extreme 100 km on the Võhandu river

The 4th Võhandu Marathon took place on 18th of April on the longest river of Estonia - Võhandu river (162 km). This marathon has grown to an international paddle competition and is the longest and biggest one in Baltic region.

This time the distance was record-shattering 100 km but this did not dispirit competitors. Paddlers came together from all around Estonia, there were participants from Latvia, Lithuania and Norway also. All together there were 252 teams racing.

Marathon turned out quite hard - it started in the snow, on day time it was rainy and it even rail a bit. Despite all those extreme conditions 170 boats finished the marathon. First place went to 1 dobbel kayak with Marcis Laidnis and Ervins Veveris (LAT; time 08:28:07), second place to 1 dobbel kayak with Uko Kõrge and Kaubi Türnpuu (EST; time 08:42:42) and third place to Koit Põder (EST; time 09:05:07).

There was something else to look for - the organizers raffled an Expedition kayak by SeaBird Designs between all competitors. The lucky winner was Olden Jentson.
